Today’s science standards have initiated a significant shift in all parts of the science education system. As a result, science instructional materials are also changing. Educators, school and district administrators, and developers of instructional materials need to develop a shared vision of high-quality curricula that will prepare students for success in school and beyond.
Join EdReports and NextGenScience at WestEd for a conversation about a new resource that illustrates critical design features of science instructional materials. Collectively, both organizations have reviewed hundreds of science materials and will discuss common trends and implications for the field, along with showcasing illustrations of high-quality materials.
About NextGenScience at WestEd
In April 2020, NextGenScience launched at WestEd to support educators with the implementation of rigorous science standards across the nation. We bring together expertise in classroom teaching, learning design, science leadership, and policy analysis.
Our team was formerly part of Achieve — the nonprofit organization that coordinated the development of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in 2013 and led efforts to improve the design, selection, and implementation of high-quality science curricula and assessments.
At WestEd, NextGenScience works alongside educators to design quality, coherent programs that align science standards, instructional materials, professional learning, and assessments.
