Overview
Alicia Kielmovitch helps develop, drive, and implement WestEd’s government outreach and policy strategies. As the Director of Policy and Outreach, Kielmovitch increases WestEd’s visibility and impact with the U.S. Congress, the Administration, and key state entities, such as the State of California.
Kielmovitch was most recently the Vice President of Data and Government Affairs at the Indiana Youth Institute, where she was responsible for developing Indiana’s annual Annie E. Casey Foundation KIDS COUNT® Data Book. Through the annual Data Book, she provided local and state leaders with new data indicators, policy context, and strategies and recommendations. She also executed an advocacy agenda through briefings and presentations to various interest holders, including local leaders, legislators, state-level commissions, Governor Holcomb’s staff, and congressional offices.
Prior to joining the Indiana Youth Institute, Kielmovitch worked for the State of Indiana as the Chief of Staff for the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet and Senior Director of Policy and Legislation for the State Board of Education. Her previous experience also includes working for Senator Orrin Hatch’s office.
Kielmovitch began her career in education as a 1st grade teacher in rural Louisiana.
