Overview

Teresa Alonzo develops the capacity of school, district, and state department leadership teams in utilizing continuous improvement practices to learn to improve desired outcomes. She leads the development, refinement and delivery of professional development training materials related to instructional improvement, English Learners, equitable systems, leadership pathways, and state accountability systems. She partners with clients to conceptualize strategy and facilitate strategic planning and implementation, and she regularly presents to the field the knowledge base and resources that are developed at WestEd.

Alonzo develops the capacity of school, district, and state department leadership teams in utilizing continuous improvement practices to learn to improve desired outcomes. She leads the development, refinement and delivery of professional development training materials related to instructional improvement, English Learners, equitable systems, state and local accountability systems, and diversification of leadership pathways. She has convened and facilitated more than 50 professional learning networks across four states and partners with clients to conceptualize strategy and facilitate strategic planning and implementation.

Before joining WestEd, Alonzo served as a TK–12 school and district leader, regional director for a statewide literacy project, and academy facilitator for the Association of California School Administrators. Alonzo combines her passion for strengthening school and district leadership with a strong desire to increase the number of highly effective leaders of color through her service as a board member and Director of Mentoring for the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators.
