We conduct rigorous research and evaluation work and are a trusted source of evidence on the effects of policies and programs for children, young adults, and communities. In addition to conducting research and evaluation studies, we promote the use of scientific evidence in making decisions about programs, policies, and practices relevant to justice and prevention.
What We Do
Throughout our research and evaluation work, we partner with government, foundation, community-based, and other organizations to conduct rigorous studies, lead policy analyses, provide evidence-informed technical assistance, and develop solutions in the areas of school and community safety, public health, violence prevention, and justice systems.
We help community and school systems
- Address concerns about student and staff safety in our nation’s educational institutions
- Work to eliminate the deep inequities in juvenile and adult justice systems that reflect a long history of bias and racial discrimination by helping to better support victims, reduce recidivism, and foster rehabilitation and reintegration for those who have been involved in crimes
- Understand and access the right interventions and supports to prevent violence and substance misuse
Our Approach
Centering Equity in All Our Work
Our experts work with you to identify evidence and use data to inform decision-making. We conduct policy-relevant studies and incorporate a systems approach when providing technical assistance.
We strive to advance equity through our use of collaborative, inclusive, and culturally responsive approaches to partnership and knowledge-building.
We are dedicated to elevating the voices and lived experiences of people from historically and institutionally marginalized communities.
