(Past Event) Join Experts from the Program for Infant/Toddler Care at the 2022 California Association for the Education of Young Children Annual Conference & Expo

Experts from the Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC) will present at the 2022 California Association for the Education of Young Children Annual Conference & Expo at the Pasadena Convention Center, April 29 through May 1, in Pasadena, California.

The California Association for the Education of Young Children advances excellence throughout the early care and education profession. California service providers and leaders from local chapters and partner organizations come together for the annual conference. The conference theme is Visions for the Future: Coming Together to Advance the ECE Profession.

The Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC) is a comprehensive training system that promotes responsive, caring relationships for infants and toddlers. It employs evidence-based training materials and strategies for the early education field.

PITC’s infant/toddler care experts will present two sessions. One will focus on implementing an individualized and responsive infant/toddler curriculum in care settings. Another will highlight PITC PARS, a new program assessment tool for infant/toddler care settings. Read the full descriptions in the schedule below.

Title: An Interactive Workshop to Learn More About the PITC PARS, a New Program Assessment for Infant/Toddler Care Settings

Presenters: Bianca Rodriguez-Reyes and Lizbeth Medina

PITC PARS (PITC Program Assessment & Reflection System) is an innovative approach to assessing infant/toddler child care quality. This two-part interactive session will offer a guided process for learning more about key aspects of quality child care, deepen understanding of assessment, and how both are meaningful in infant/toddler settings. This presentation is appropriate for family child care providers, infant/toddler care teachers, administrators, coaches, trainers, and others who work with children ages birth to 36 months.

Title: Implementing Individualized and Responsive Infant/Toddler Curriculum in Your Care Setting
Time: 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (PT)
Presenters: Amber Morabito and Monica Hernandez

Participants will learn about implementing the Infant/Toddler Curriculum in any care setting, specifically in family child care, center-based, and family, friend, and neighbor care. There will be opportunities to explore a planning process based on reflection, observation, and documentation of play and learning that respects each child’s developing abilities, individual strengths and needs, family culture(s), and language(s). The session will also address strategies for supporting mixed age groups through daily routines, interactions, and learning environments.
