WestEd science education experts will present at the National Science Education Leadership Association’s (NSELA) 2025 Leadership Summit in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 26, 2025.

The theme for this year’s summit is “Inspired by History, Driven by Innovation.” This one-day event invites district and state leaders and instructional coaches.

EdReports and NextGenScience are partnering with organizations across the country to determine how review and select of instructional materials that meet the needs of all students.

From Past Milestones to Future Frontiers: Transforming Science Education with Innovations from Climate-Focused Data Science

Participants will engage in hands-on activities with climate data that allow them to experience effective strategies for data-rich teaching. They will use this experience to reflect on and discuss research-based, yet achievable, strategies for supporting science teachers in developing classroom practices for all learners as they engage in data-centric, action-oriented climate change learning.

Session: Supporting Teachers to Improve Science Teaching and Learning Through Curriculum-Based Professional Learning

In this session, participants will consider why a new approach to teacher learning is needed and how a curriculum-based professional learning program can improve teaching practices and student learning. Through real-world professional learning examples, participants will deepen understanding of key shifts in a curriculum-based professional learning program.
