
Revitalize your professional learning communities (PLCs) to better support standards-based instruction and increase student achievement through the 3-day “VITAL Collaboration Institute”.
Drawing from research on improvement science, visible learning, standards implementation, and more, the institute coaches participants to use a series of protocols and other tools designed to help them significantly enhance teaching and learning.
Participants will leave with concrete strategies and resources that can be applied immediately to generate more effective professional collaboration in their school or district. These practices include:
- Engaging in data-driven inquiry
- Backwards lesson-planning
- Analyzing academic and language demands in standards
- Lesson-tuning
- Using observation and video for analyzing teaching
- Designing and validating standardards-based performance tasks, rubrics, and assessments
Who Should Attend?
Participants should register as a school- or district based team of three to five. These teams can be made up of:
- District leaders
- School leaders
- Coaches and teacher leaders
- Classroom teachers
Leadership Session on July 27th
An additional session offered on the fourth day focuses on site-and- district level leadership for implementing VITAL Collaboration. Participants explore the essential leadership components needed to implement and sustain effective collaboration, including assessing the existing culture and climate around professional collaboration, creating a common vision on how best to collectively improve teaching and learning, and knowing how to observe collaboration efforts and give effective feedback.
Cost
The institute costs $690 per person, or $2,000 for a team of three and $650 for each additional person. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
