Jenny Betz and Christina Pate of WestEd’s Health & Justice Program will lead a skill-building session on addressing the social-emotional and mental health needs of students at the New York State Council of School Superintendents’ (NYSCOSS) 2018 Fall Leadership Summit.
Sponsored by NYSCOSS and the Leadership for Educational Achievement Foundation (LEAF), Inc., the annual Leadership Summit provides professional development and networking opportunities for New York superintendents. The event will be held on September 23-25 at the Saratoga Hilton & Saratoga Springs City Center in New York.
During the session, participants will:
- Learn about the internal and external conditions for learning and teaching that either enable or present barriers to success
- Examine how educators can create cultures of care for all school stakeholders
- Explore frameworks and tangible ideas as well as have opportunities to reflect on and share current practices at their own sites that facilitate health, wellness, and achievement
The session will end with a brief action planning session for identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing practices in their settings.
The session will be held on Monday, September 24, 2:30-3:30pm, in the Broadway 3 room.
