We contribute to the professional growth of experts and programs to ensure responsive, relationship-based care for infants and toddlers—including those with disabilities—and their families through specializations that range from trauma-informed care for social–emotional development to promoting positive behavioral supports.
What We Do
We cultivate high-quality care for infants and toddlers while also working to sustain and scale evidence-based practices and frameworks that improve systems.
Program for Infant and Toddler Care (PITC)
Our teams deliver high-quality, equitable, and accessible professional learning and training for care teachers, in-home care providers, trainers, and administrators, and others working to promote healthy development of infants and toddlers.
Intervention, Mental Health, and Inclusion
Our experience in providing services also supports children with disabilities and their families. This work includes connecting research and practice with the implementation of intervention, mental health, and inclusion strategies that improve systems of care to serve the learning and development of all young children.
Our Approach
Working in applied, dynamic community settings and emphasizing respectful care and diverse perspectives, we support high-quality care for infants and toddlers and their families through the intersection of anti-bias, inclusive, and equity-driven research, programs, and policy.
Our approach includes a mix of activities, including
- guiding and supporting professional learning communities
- creating materials and resources in a variety of formats
- supporting strategic planning
- carrying out research and evaluation projects
In addition, our teams provide technical assistance and professional development through federally funded technical assistance projects, state-specific contracts, and services.
In collaboration with expert practitioners, we evaluate existing systems, identify gaps, and determine end user needs. Subsequently, we use resulting data to inform sustainability planning with qualitative and quantitative evaluation measures that assess program impact.
