Center for IDEA Fiscal Reporting

Improving state capacity to collect, report, analyze, and use IDEA fiscal data.

Current Challenge

Effective management and reporting of special education funds under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are essential for delivering quality services. However, many state and local education agencies require additional support to develop procedures, enhance compliance, and use fiscal data to maximize support for students with disabilities.

Purpose

The Center for IDEA Fiscal Reporting (CIFR) helps states accurately report and use fiscal data to meet the needs of infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and their families.

CIFR also helps states address any challenges with fiscal data quality and federal regulations so that infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and their families can continue to receive the special education and early intervention services they need.

Audience Served

CIFR provides state leaders and staff with supports and resources to accurately report and use fiscal data to meet the needs of infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and their families.

Key Activities

CIFR provides training and technical assistance; develops publications and tools; and holds national events, communities of practice, and other networking opportunities for states to learn from one another.
