This study explores two issues related to high school graduation rates:

  • Early indicators that can help identify students at risk of not graduating
  • How students’ academic mindsets (attitudes, beliefs, perceptions, and disposition regarding themselves, their academic potential, and their relationship to school) predict school success

The report emerges from collaborative efforts between Clark County School District (NV) and REL West around strategies for using predictive analytics to help improve the district’s graduation rates.

One key finding: Early indicators for low attendance, insufficient credits, grades of F (Failure), and low GPA are all associated with lower rates of students on track for graduation.
