“Using the Routines-Based Interview to Support Natural Environments and Inclusion” is among the pre-conference workshops as part of the First 5 California 2015 Child Health, Education, and Care Summit titled, Building Powerful Partnerships.

The routines-based interview (RBI) is a clinical, semi-structured tool that gauges family satisfaction with home routines and teacher perceptions of various items regarding the child, including his or her engagement, independence and social relationships with everyday routines, and development in multiple domains.

The RBI, used by many states as well as programs worldwide, is designed to establish a positive relationship with the family, identify a child’s abilities, and determine educational/therapeutic needs.

This workshop is ideal for professionals who train others to plan individualized family service plans and individual education programs.

Monica Mathur-Kalluri, Program Associate with WestEd’s Center for Prevention and Early Intervention (CPEI), will serve as workshop presenter. Mathur-Kalluri is the only certified routines-based interviewer in California.

The workshop is presented by the California Department of Education Early Childhood Special Education, the Department of Developmental Services Part C, and CPEI.
