Join WestEd and the National Charter School Resource Center (NCSRC) for an engaging, interactive workshop on new research related to the indicators of distress in charter schools.
School leaders and board members are invited to explore key indicators observed in charter schools prior to failure, turnaround, or closure. Presenters will share findings including Part 1 of the new NCSRC study that focuses on the role and perspective of charter school authorizers, Identifying Indicators of Distress in Charter Schools. This report is the product of extensive qualitative research and formal interviews with nine authorizers across policy contexts from a variety of authorizing entities.
Key Outcomes
Participants will walk away with strategies to recognize early signs of distress, and learn strategies to take action towards the goal of school improvement. Opportunities will be available to provide feedback to inform the next phase of this research with CMOs, independent charter schools, and boards.
