As part of the two-day online and in-person conference, WestEd Senior Research Scientist Aída Walqui will present a virtual session highlighting the new IES-supported National Research & Development Center to Improve Education for Secondary English Learners.
Center researchers Ilana Umansky (University of Oregon) and Margaret Heritage (UCLA), and WestEd’s Haiwen Chu, Martha Palacios, Lee Hartman, and Mary Schmida will also participate in the session.
On April 29 from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. (Central Time), Irisa Charney-Sirott and Sharon Sáez from WestEd’s Reading Apprenticeship program will present a session about the blending of social-emotional learning and academic literacy through Reading Apprenticeship.
