STEMworks at WestEd

Partnering with state education leaders to bring the most effective STEM education programs to hundreds of thousands of students every year.

STEM education programs often lack evidence of their quality and effectiveness. State education agencies struggle to determine which programs to support or adopt in their state. STEMworks helps educators access resources that meet rigorous and results-driven design criteria and improve STEM education nationally.

Purpose

The goal of STEMworks is to provide partner agencies with access to a searchable online honor roll of high-quality STEM education programs, a tailored online platform for reviewing STEMworks program applications, training for reviewing program applications, and technical assistance.

STEMworks also supports program applicants through a coaching initiative called STEMworks Academy. Applicants that do not yet meet the bar for admission to the STEMworks database are invited to participate in one-on-one coaching designed to enhance their ability to communicate their impact and improve their strategic planning.

Audiences Served

STEMworks provides technical assistance to two primary audiences: state education and STEM education agencies as well as STEM education programs that are looking to expand to address STEM education needs in new states.

Project Activities

STEMworks provides partner agencies with access to its custom online platform, training, and technical assistance. Partner agencies can also create additional questions that meet their specific priorities.
