This resource aims to help charter schools adapt to the changing needs of their students and staff. It focuses on improving student mental health and well-being to set the foundation for school community wellness.

The resource also covers the research base and student and community well-being strategies aligned with the U.S. Department of Education’s Return to School Roadmap.

It contains three parts:

  • Section 1 summarizes research linking good mental health and well-being to positive outcomes for students and schools
  • Section 2 provides strategies for supporting mental health and well-being and highlights how three charter organizations respond to student and staff needs
  • Section 3 describes how to use continuous improvement to create systems that support communities of care or refine existing systems
