This webinar presents an overview of the Smarter Balanced Assessment system, emphasizing how classroom-based interim and formative assessment support secondary school teaching and learning and literacy development throughout the school year.

As a member of the Smarter Balanced Assessment consortium, the California Department of Education is able to provide all public educators in grades K-12 free access to the Digital Library. The Digital Library includes professional learning opportunities and resources for secondary teachers which are intended to support classroom-based formative assessment processes.

Participants receive an overview of the Gate Keeping Criteria used to vet all resources submitted to the library by the State Network of Educators. Resources available to support literacy development are highlighted.
