Developed in 2014, the EQuIP Rubric for Science provides 19 criteria for measuring the degree to which units are designed for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Since its release, thousands of educators and developers have used the EQuIP Rubric for Science to guide the development and evaluation of materials.

Anchored in the vision of the NGSS and A Framework for K-12 Science Education, this new NextGenScience resource unpacks the 19 EQuIP Rubric for Science Criteria. The resource was developed using the NextGenScience Peer Review Panel’s detailed review criteria and is intended to provide a clearer picture of criteria for designing science instructional materials.

This resource is designed to support those who develop, review, select, or use instructional materials by helping create a common vision of high-quality materials that are designed for the NGSS. It can be used as a tool to support conversation and collaboration among educators who are building understanding of high-quality materials or developers who are determining priorities for designing new materials.

Watch the Toward NGSS Design archived webinar to learn about the key features of this resource and to see examples of how educators, curriculum developers, and district leaders have used the EQuIP Rubric for Science.
