Carlas McCauley, Director for WestEd’s Center on School Turnaround (CST), contributed an article to the May 2018 issue of The Standard, a journal from the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE).

The article, entitled “A Systems Approach to Rapid School Improvement,” introduces CST’s four domains framework for rapid school improvement and provides concrete examples of actions states can take within each domain. The article also includes a section that discusses what the four domains framework means for state boards.

Other contributors to the issue include Robert Slavin of the Center for Research and Reform in Education at Johns Hopkins University; Erica Champagne of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and American Institutes for Research’s Susan Bowles Therriault; and Stephanie Wood-Garnett and Betty Greene-Bryant of the Institute for Student Achievement.
